ABOUT THE POSITION
The Environmental Manager – Sr. will manage all aspects of environmental issues for all EaglePicher facilities and serve as a subject matter expert. The Environmental Manager – Sr. will develop a systematic and organized approach to following and complying with environmental regulations, ensuring compliance with wastewater operation, air quality, hazardous waste, recycling, solid waste, stormwater and oil handling programs for plant operations. This position has oversight responsibility for Environmental and Wastewater Supervisor(s) and Technicians across the company.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for knowing and driving compliance with all Federal, State and Local environmental standards and regulations for multiple facilities, processes, hazards, states, materials, etc.
- Writes, implements, manages and communicates best in class EHS programs, policies and procedures and ensures adoption of them across facilities, as applicable.
- Completes and maintains relevant EHS documentation for all facilities/areas of responsibility.
- Conducts compliance reviews, audits and risk assessments to ensure environmental compliance.
- Assists in emergency response situations during standard work hours and after hours for the purpose of remediating EHS concern.
- Identifies opportunities for and leads corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintains positive and proactive relations internally as well as with customers and regulatory agencies.
- Manages routine environmental reports, environmental compliance tasks, inventories and surveys; including data acquisition, documentation, record keeping, monitoring, review, and approval.
- Implements environmental training programs and training assessments to ensure required training is identified and conducted.
- Analyzes environmental incidents, determine root causes, implement corrective action and communicates this information to plant leadership.
- Leads environmental projects to improve key performance metrics.
- Ensures that the organization is in compliance with all appropriate Federal, State, and local regulations and standards, including: EPA, DOE, DOT, NRC, RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA, SARA, MODNR, KDHE, RIDEM, MDEP, ATF, etc.
- Conducts investigations to assure waste management facilities and air pollution sources are operated in strict accordance with operating permits.
- Assesses environmental risk and develops required regulatory documentation.
- Provides input to the annual budgetary requirements for environmental operations.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge and understanding of new or anticipated regulations or compliance interpretations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field required.
- Advanced experience in a responsible environmental position with previous leadership experience
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to commute between multiple sites
- Certifications in RCRA, HAZWOPER, DOT Hazardous Materials, etc.
- MO Class A Wastewater License
- U.S. Persons
Additional Training Requirements
- 10 or more years experience in the management/operation of environmental programs.
