R&D Project Engineer

(Research and Development, B Street Facility)

 

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Research and Development Project Engineer performs technical project or program management work focused on research and development projects or programs; typically manages these projects/programs from initiation through delivery.  In addition, this role will also be responsible for meeting the project/program requirements by applying project management skills, tools, and techniques to manage the project/program scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources, and risk.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Your core responsibilities will be the following:

                 Conducts end to end project management of multiple large projects and may also manage sub-components of a large program

                 Leads cross-functional teams to complete projects or program deliverables within allotted timeline and budget

                 Identifies key internal/external stakeholders necessary for project completion and develops overall strategy for execution of high value projects/program

                 Defines project/program scope and objectives, guides activities of a project/program team including delegating tasks to team members, identifies resources, and establishes master timeline for deliverables; projects/programs are very complex in nature, rarely follow a repeatable framework, typically span multiple business units or are company-wide, and require a high level of analysis to create project/program plans for new concept projects/programs

                 Work with external vendors and internal stakeholders to champion project(s) across the entire organization; develops detailed work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports; conducts project/program meetings and is responsible for project/program tracking and analysis; ensure adherences to quality standards and reviews project/program deliverables

                 Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables; provides technical and analytical guidance to project team; recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of major problems

HIRING REQUIREMENTS
To succeed in this position, you must meet the following requirements:

                 U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

                 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline

                 Minimum 5 years of recent research and development project management experience

                 Recent experience in system design engineering

                 Ability to direct the diagnosis of work flow problems, critical paths and institute remedies

                 Ability to read and understand financial metrics and identify remedies to financial issues

                 Customer service orientation with a strong problem solving approach

                 Strong verbal and written communication skills

                 Strong capabilities around planning, analysis, and development of project plans and proposals

                 Proactive approach; strong sense of ownership and urgency

                 Ability to indirectly lead teams of engineers and maintain focus while soliciting ideas from cross-functional teams

HIRING PREFERENCES
The most successful candidates will also meet the following preferred qualifications:

                 Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline

                 Technical experience in the field of electrochemistry

                 Technical experience in the field of electrochemical cell development

                 Technical experience in the field of battery development
