Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of duties associated with the material processing of Li-Ion and CFx cells.

Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will be to:

  • Responsible for electrode fabrication processes and equipment used for Li-ion and CFx cell manufacturing
  • Develop and improve processes including powder mixing, slurry mixing, web coating, calendering, etc.
  • Identification and implementation of process changes that improve safety, quality, or throughput
  • Utilization of structured problem solving techniques to identify root cause and corrective actions for problems
  • Actively improve and drive process, productivity and quality improvements through measurement, detailed analysis, and sustained improvement with process control methods
  • Engage manufacturing personnel to provide training and guidance on manufacturing processes on a routine basis
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for manufacturing personnel
  • Partner with R&D and New Product Development to transfer new processes into the electrode fabrication line
  • Spec, procure, and implement equipment to support new product growth
  • Be a major player in design for manufacturability on new projects in the stage gate process
  • Adapt Lean Six Sigma, SPC and other methods to fit process need driving stability and overall systematic process improvements
  • Expect 40% of time to be on the manufacturing floor
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Become subject matter expert for mixing, coating and calendering processes
  • Develop and maintain tracking metrics for process area

Qualifications

Candidate cannot be considered without meeting these requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s in Engineering, Science or technical degree (Chemical or Materials preferred)
  • Experience in industrial engineering or scientific discipline utilizing science and engineering problem solving methods
  • Experienced with chemical lab environments and good lab practices
  • Experience in data measurement, analysis and report authoring using sound statistical analysis methods
  • Communication skills, including written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building/working skills
  • Ability to delegate effectively and utilize available resources
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust quickly to changing production needs
  • Able to provide constructive feedback and train others as needed
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Hiring Preferences (successful candidates should also meet these preferences)

  • Experience with lithium ion electrode processing strongly preferred
  • Experience with converting processes
  • Experience with slot die and reverse comma coating
  • Experience with formal process validation methods such as IQ, OQ, PQ
  • Six-Sigma process improvement methods
  • Excellent computer skills in Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge and application experience utilizing statistical analysis tools such as SPC and Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience with GMP, ISO and AS-9100 quality system methods
  • Organizational and time management skills

Minimal Education level Required:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s in Engineering, Science or technical degree
