Overview

EaglePicher is searching for a Director of Test Labs to manage lab processes across the enterprise

 

About the Position

The primary purpose of this position is to enable EPT's growth by bringing the labs up to World Class standards, instilling customer confidence in EPT test data and processes, ensuring testing capability and capacity meet current and future demand, and by driving continuous improvement activities across all labs.

Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will be to:

  • Drive a global Test Lab vision across EPT test centers
  • Develop a roadmap for compliance to IEC17025 or similar standard testing management process
  • Oversee the operation of electrical, mechanical, and metrology test equipment and effective use of support personnel
  • Provide equipment and staffing strategy to enable EPT growth
  • Develop rigorous test design methodology that re-enforces battery design, performance stability, and product improvement
  • Work with internal and external resources to maintain and optimize test equipment, operating software, data handling, data traceability, data reporting, and lab facility infrastructure
  • Use KPI’s and Dashboard to drive decisions and continuous improvement activities
  • Provide regular project updates to key project stakeholders
  • Maintain 5S/7S standards to enhance customer confidence in EPT testing
  • Manage budget for lab operation and lab tooling
  • Ensure testing operations are done in accordance with corporate and regulatory policies
  • Develop automated testing strategy to support high and low volume production

Hiring Requirements

To succeed in this position, you must:

  • Have 15+ years of product testing experience in a regulated industry
  • Have 10+ years managing product testing and reliability labs, preferably in lithium based battery and/or electromechanical applications.
  • Have a strong understanding of IEC17025 or other regulated laboratory process standards
  •  Possess in-depth knowledge of environmental and accelerated lifetime testing techniques, equipment, and data handling
  • Have extensive experience managing multiple labs in multiple locations
  • Have e xtensive experience interacting with customers and presenting project status to Senior Leadership
  • Have experience in high volume testing across a diverse product line.

 

Hiring Preferences

In addition to meeting the basic requirements, the most successful candidate will also:

  • Have a Degree in Engineering or other technical field
  • Be familiar with lithium-based battery technologies and charging requirements
  • Have a strong ability to plan, prioritize and communicate status of work activities
  • Show a strong understanding of testing techniques and requirements for one-shot devices
  • Be familiar with Lean Manufacturing, 6-Sigma, and other continuous improvement processes
