Job Title: Scientist

Classification: Salaried Exempt

The Scientist role will support R&D Materials Science activities, specifically with separators, and work in collaboration with R&D team. Role will be involved in synthesis and characterization of polymers and polymer electrolyte and separators; generate and maintain technical data for multiple projects, provide technical support to engineering design and production; and provide hands-on laboratory work to develop new materials.

Ongoing functions include:

·        Develop new polymeric materials for electrolyte and separators and their characterization

·        Polymer membrane synthesis

·        Assist and contribute to development of innovative new products with ideas, concepts, collaboration and intellectual properties

·        Provide expertise and knowledge of new technology and development to areas of specialty

·        Analyze data from variety of analytical methods

·        Practice safe handling chemicals and materials

·        Demonstrate active support of technology mission, corporate vision and quality iniatives

·        Supervise and train others to perform experiments

·        Perform administrative tasks associated with job function

·        Able to interface with scientists and engineers within the organization

·        Maintain laboratory book

·        Provide regular updates on progress on assigned development projects to supervisor and others through progress reports and/or presentations

·        Positively contribute and collaborate in team environment


Job Requirements:

·        Bachelors in Polymer Science or Materials Science or related discipline with polymer synthesis knowledge

·        Higher level Masters or PhD desired

·        Good understanding of polymers, electrolytes and separators

·        Able to lead research projects

·        Creative and innovative thinker to resolve research challenges

·        Demonstrated ability to support the development of novel materials as well as adapt existing materials

·        Good interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written

·        Able to contribute to collaborative team environment

·        Self-motivated and hands-on

·        Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
