The Material Manager is responsible for the overall material strategy and execution for EaglePicher programs. This individual will work directly with the Program cross-functional Team to coordinate updated technical documentation to the supply base to ensure continuity of supply with historical suppliers or work directly with new suppliers to develop processes and qualifications to support the program.

The Material Manager will be required to work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders to ensure technical, quality and performance requirements are relayed to the supply base and complied to for program success.

Key aspects to this role are a high level of attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to solve complex problems, an innovative and creative mindset, strong negotiation experiences and skills, knowledge of DoD procurement regulations such as FAR and DFAR, experiences managing Suppliers to achieve aggressive cost reductions, improved quality and reduced leadtime performance.


  • Leads the EaglePicher supply chain responsibilities on programs and is the subject matter expert with the industry, technology, and business management of the Suppliers.
  • Acts as the Company agent responsible for the overall performance of the Suppliers for the program.
  • Develops a material strategy for the programs by gathering market, trend, and price information
  • In some cases, will complete all required compliance documentation for purchase orders and new suppliers
  • Relays to Procurement a complete technical, quality and performance requirement portfolio for RF(X) requirements.
  • Request quotes for customer contract proposals with guidance from Supply Chain Management leadership;
  • Collaborates with Material Planning to ensure all internal production schedules are supported while exceeding material cost reduction goals and improving Supplier on time delivery.
  • Contribute to a strong governance culture by complying with appropriate policies and procedures;
  • Facilitate continuous improvement strategies in accordance with lean supply chain management concepts throughout the organization
  • Develop material strategies that support long term cost reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Supplier Quality to develop and implement Supplier improvement strategies when required
  • Develop, communicate, and enforce company policies and procedures for SCM
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field required. MBA preferred.
  • Certification within ISM or APICS preferred.
  • At least (3) three years of experience is required in a professional career position.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement policies and procedures preferred, such as FAR and DFAR requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as, excellent interpersonal skills are preferred
  • Strong negotiation experience in all aspects of contracting; price, schedule, quality, terms and conditions, etc.
  • Experience with Energy Storage or Government Procurement and Acquisitions preferred
  • Be a strong team player who is able to develop and maintain close working internal and external relationships
  • Exhibit solid judgment and the ability to make good decisions with minimal supervision;
  • Be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage workflow;
  • Be comfortable working independently and operating efficiently;
  • Be detail-oriented, accurate, and responsive
