    As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at EaglePicher, you will be the site leader for both Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance (equipment and facility) at the C & Porter Streets location in Joplin, MO. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain world-class processes, equipment, and tools to ensure batteries are manufactured safely and efficiently to meet the mission-critical quality standards our Defense customers demand. Passion for process improvement is required; obsession is preferred! Position reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.

    Responsibilities

    • Staff, develop, lead, and mentor manufacturing engineering and maintenance personnel
    • Develop and maintain all manufacturing processes and equipment, including facilities
    • Propose, plan, and execute key projects to drive safety, quality, and cost improvements
    • Plan, coordinate, and manage capital budget for site(s)
    • Establish improved processes and tools to enable technical teams to be more effective
    • Champion and lead key initiatives to improve foundation for world-class processes

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline
    • 8+ years of manufacturing experience with 2+ years supervising technical staff/teams
    • Adept at allocating and managing resources for many competing projects and skilled at communicating priorities and managing expectations with internal and external customers
    • Skilled at managing initiatives/projects, and reporting on results to all levels of the organization
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and detailed oriented
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • High energy and self-motivated with a passion for process improvement
    • Analytical, with a structured approach to problem solving
    • Experienced in developing and validating manufacturing processes
    • Experienced with facility and equipment maintenance functions
    • Experienced with automated equipment, robotics, and process mechanization
    • Experienced with the process of procuring and implementing capital equipment
    • Proficient with Microsoft office software

    Preferences:

    • Battery industry experience (especially Thermal batteries)
    • Experience implementing Total Productive Maintenance
    • Experience with powder metal processing (powder feeding, pellet pressing/consolidation, etc.)
    • Experience with high precision presses, tooling and dies
    • Experience with welding/metal joining (laser, resistance, tig, etc.)
    • Automated inspection experience (vision systems, etc.)
    • Six Sigma methodology experience
