Job Summary:

The EHS Manager will manage all aspects of health, safety and environmental issues for assigned EaglePicher facility.  The EHS Manager will develop a systematic and organized approach to following and complying to safety and environmental regulations, aggressively manage workers’ compensation and property risk. The EHS Manager will be an integral member of the leadership team to drive the success of the business through a safety-oriented culture and ultimately lower the number of safety incidents and near misses.  This position works closely with other EHS professionals to drive safety oriented culture and initiatives across company.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for creating a safe work environment as well as managing workers’ compensation and property risk. Includes training individuals on proper safeguards including PPE, monitoring the work environment for safety risks, recommending corrective actions and assisting the business with implementation.
  • Responsible for knowing and driving compliance with all Federal, State and Local environmental standards and regulations at assigned facility.
  • Responsible for knowing and implementing Department of Defense explosive safety regulations under DOD 4145.26-M. Experience with safe explosives handling is preferred.
  • Drives a safety-oriented culture, participates actively in a team oriented atmosphere, in implementing safety programs and training.  Creates a proactive strategy to prevent safety incidents, raise safety awareness, increase engagement, lower incident rates and drive change.
  • Writes, implements, manages and communicates EHS programs, policies and procedures.
  • Routinely conducts EHS Meetings, creates and conducts training sessions.
  • Walks the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
  • Completes and maintains relevant EHS logs and documentation for assigned facility.
  • Assists with design and installation of environmental, safety and manufacturing equipment to ensure a safe and environmentally sound facility.
  • Conducts compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support health, safety and environmental management.
  • May respond to emergency situations during standard work hours and after hours for the purpose of remediating EHS concern.  Assists in emergency response and provides first aid treatment, as necessary.
  • Conducts detailed investigations and root cause analysis as well as makes resolutions and recommendations.
  • Implements corrective actions and continuous improvement activities as required.
  • Maintains positive and proactive relations with leadership team and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.

Required Education and Experience


  • Bachelor Science in health and safety related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a responsible environmental, health, and safety position
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation laws and best practices
  • Ability to commute between multiple sites
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
