Director of Operational Quality
(Quality, Crossroads Facility)

 

 

ONGOING JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

       Director of Operational Quality with ownership for manufacturing quality at all EPT manufacturing sites in Joplin, MO

       Develop, maintain, and drive the continuous improvement of factory level quality metrics and dashboard

       Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations to reduce quality risk of new and existing programs, including program and contract reviews.

       Interface directly with on-site and off-site customers

       Provide consistent leadership and support to site level Quality Managers and their staff

       Work with VP Quality in developing and rolling out the EPT Quality Culture at all manufacturing sites

       Support and drive strategic quality projects following the EaglePicher Quality Roadmap

       Oversee management of the factory quality system from end to end through use of tracked metrics

       Support factory compliance audits and ensure they are driving expeditious resolution to issues

       Make recommendations for capital equipment to drive improved quality, capability, and capacity

       Support the facilitation of CAPA teams that deliver accurate, thorough, and timely problem resolutions to internal manufacturing, LAT, and external customer issues

       Maintain a quality leadership team that is cross trained to AS9100, ISO13485, ISO9001, and other regulatory standards as required

       Provide project planning of cross functional teams that drive continuous improvement and reduction of process variation

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

# OF DIRECT REPORTS:   5-6 MANAGERS

 

KEY OBJECTIVES (specific expectations that will be measured for success during the next 6 to 18 months)

       Lead a team of agile, cross trained Quality Managers to support all EPT manufacturing sites and expected growth

       Maintain projects driving continuous reduction of process variation and various improvement projects through use of data and factory metrics

       Establish and oversee strategic quality projects following the EaglePicher Quality Roadmap

       Take ownership of Quality for incoming material and production processes; including feedback from Test Lab data and customer input

       Develop processes to improve established customer relationships

       LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

       Must possess demonstrated ability to implement change and be results focused across functional groups

       Must be able to identify and recruit key individuals to support and maintain Quality objectives

       Strong background in comprehensive problem solving techniques (8D, Fishbone, Pareto) and statistical analysis

       Able to work autonomously while achieving goals with a minimum of direction

       Knowledge of lean manufacturing / continuous improvement techniques

       Must possess excellent organizational and team working/building skills

       Ability to delegate effectively and utilize available resources

       Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills with executives and critical customers.

       Computer skills in PC Windows/software environment required with knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project with PowerPoint and Access preferred.

 

HIRING REQUIREMENTS  (candidate cannot be considered without meeting these requirements)

       Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

       Over 15 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 7 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing company

       Must possess demonstrated ability to implement change and be results focused

       Able to work and achieve goals with little direction

       Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing / continuous improvement techniques

       Must possess excellent organizational and team working/building skills

       Ability to delegate effectively and utilize available resources

       Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills required

       Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) required

 

HIRING PREFERENCES (successful candidates should also meet these preferences)

       Prefer quality experience with aerospace, defense, and /or medical background

       Professional certification preferred (ASQ, CQE, CQM)

       Computer skills in PC windows/software environment required with knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project with PowerPoint and Access preferred

       Professional certification or coursework a plus

       Six Sigma or equivalent statistical engineering certification/experience preferred

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

       Bachelors in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business or related discipline; or equivalent experience
