As an APPLICATIONS ENGINEER , you will work to ensure EaglePicher delivers only the highest quality mission critical, high technology, state of the art products for high tech, mission critical applications.

Applications Engineering serves as a primary technical interface with production, suppliers and our customers; as an APPLICATIONS ENGINEER in this group the candidate will be responsible for new product development, manufacturing procedures, over-seeing transfer from design to manufacturing and advising on quality interpretations for our Aerospace and Defense markets. Additionally, will modify, troubleshoot, and tailor hardware as required for new programs/applications; and work across functions as a team member. Ideal candidate will have experience with glass to metal interfacing, military standards and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer specifications, distill critical performance requirements and identify and/or preliminary design of components used in batteries, sensors, ignitors and system interfaces as necessary.
  • Review and/or interpret drawings, specifications and other customer requirements to ensure manufacturability.
    Determine feasibility of customer designs and assist with quotations in support of Sales.
  • Interpret and communicate technical information and complex ideas in support of external and internal customers.
  • Plan and execute engineering projects in support of long-term business objectives.
  • Approve product, component and fixture designs for manufacturability and compliance to requirements.
  • Develop and/or improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to peers, management and end customer (written and oral)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Ceramic/Glass Science or Metallurgy/Materials Science or related field required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum of 5 years product development and/or project management in industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience developing hermetic packages using glass to metal seal technology desirable.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO9001, DoD, NASA, RTCA and IPC standards and quality requirements preferred
  • Experience with software/firmware programming is desired
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for data analysis, reduction, and presentation required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required
  • Minimum five years of work experience in related role in engineering desired
  • Demonstrated self-starter and schedule-driven required
  • Demonstrated attention to detail through accuracy and completeness of information required
  • THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN SOUTHBRIDGE, MA., HOWEVER, SOME TRAVEL TO SUPPORT CUSTOMER MEETINGS / REVIEWS, IS REQUIRED.
